Electric performance from Valsave!

Connah's Quay is E.ON UK's largest combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station. The station has four single shaft units, each with a capacity of 330MW giving Connah's Quay an overall generation capacity of 1420MW - enough to power half of Wales!

Following an exhaustive competitive tendering process that included site visits from E.ON’s senior engineering staff, Cheshire based Valsave Engineered Solutions has been successful in winning  a contract with E.ON UK  to deliver the Main Steam Bypass Valve control and actuation system upgrade. The upgrade will significantly reduce E.ON’s exposure to process safety risk and will contribute to the continued safe operation of the site.

Starting with the decommissioning and removal of the existing system, the project will include the delivery of new PLC programming, control panel construction and installation of cabling and electrically driven actuators.

This four year contract was won against well established blue-chip competition with feedback from the client suggesting that the quality of the tender return, pricing and perhaps most importantly innovation all contributed to an excellent contract win.
