Research & Development Projects

The unique combination of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation (MEI) skills along with expertise in software and systems control mean that Valsave is able to add value to customer’s businesses through the delivery of comprehensive solutions to challenging engineering projects.

Valsave continuously invests in new capabilities, including the utilisation of new technology. For example, using Autodesk® Inventor® 3D CAD software allows Valsave to deliver an accurate 3D model to customers that allows them to visualize and simulate solutions before they are built, reducing development costs and getting to market faster.

As an example of our commitment to furthering the development of environmental technologies, Valsave has recently been successful in securing a significant European Framework 7 R&D project in the municipal waste water treatment market.

This project involves 14 partners in industry, Academia and Government from across the EU and will significantly reduce the environmental impact of traditional ways of disposal of sludge treatment; including the development of innovative approaches to the re-use of effluent treatment by-products in applications such as natural fertilizers. The project is intended to open up and exploit opportunities in what is estimated to be a €17Bn market.

Other examples of large scale R&D projects include the following:

• White water monitoring system for a major player in the Paper Industry, allowing the customer to deliver more effective filtration and drainage solutions
• Bespoke analysis of process equipment in the Marine industry
• Small scale test rigs to allow online testing of a paper manufacturing process without affecting process continuity and thus significantly reducing monitoring costs. Previously samples had been taken and analysed remotely in a lab environment. Valsave’s expertise has allowed the customer to fully automate the sampling process, remotely monitor results and change process parameters remotely as required.
